N.V. Havenbeheer Suriname / Suriname Port Management Company (HBS), entered into an agreement with Port of Antwerp International (PAI) on September 17th, 2021.
PAI is a subsidiary of Port of Antwerp, an international center of Port excellence, providing consultancy, advisory, management support, and investing in Port-related projects all over the world. PAI also has a close collaboration with APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center, the international training center which has had the delight to welcome HBS employees to its training for more than 30 years. As part of this recent partnership, HBS employees will be invited to APEC training courses in Antwerp whilst tailor-made courses in Suriname will also be organized. At this stage of the execution of the agreement, PAI has carried out a thorough GAP analysis identifying improvement opportunities from an internal and external perspective. Following this exercise, PAI is currently assessing the development potential for the existing Port platforms of Paramaribo and Nieuw Nickerie to allow HBS to fulfill its role as a Port Management Company in service of the economy.
We’re also grateful for the advisory service of PAI on a day-to-day basis with regard to decision-making on a strategic level.
The goal of the strategic partnership is also to share and cooperate in the market network, market intelligence, and market development. In a later stage of the partnership, PAI will also assist HBS with a strategic plan for the new Port platform that will come into existence with the Deep Water Port and the Special Economic Zone in the West of the country.
